At Joy to the World School, our students are full of potential, curiosity, and dreams for the future. But one thing is holding them back: unreliable internet access.

Right now, our computer lab has 32 desktop computers, but only the teacher’s computer is connected to the internet. That connection is painfully slow, and downloading simple document attachments can take up to half an hour. Video calls with penpals or partner schools are near impossible. Teachers can’t reliably use the internet as a resource to show students how to explore and learn online.

The reality is clear: our students are being left behind in a world that depends on digital skills.

What Reliable Internet Could Change

Imagine a classroom where students can research topics online, explore virtual museums, or even learn from a teacher in another country. Picture teachers engaging students with videos, interactive lessons, and real-world examples, tailoring their approach to different learning styles. High-quality internet access would open the door to opportunities our students can only dream of right now.

But it’s about more than just lessons. Reliable internet would teach students essential digital literacy skills and introduce them to global conversations. It would prepare them to navigate the digital world with confidence and curiosity. And for our teachers, it would mean access to tools and resources that enrich their teaching and inspire their students.

Setting up reliable, high-speed internet at our school will cost $1,500, with a monthly service fee of $350. Over five years, that’s about $22,500. It’s a significant investment, but the impact is priceless: hundreds of students equipped to thrive in the modern world.
